SUMMARY:SHOW 2nd Pan-European Workshop - Which path for a meaningful\, sustainable and feasible CCAM in Europe?
DESCRIPTION:SHOW is moving towards its demonstration phase\, in which fleets of shared Connected and Cooperative Automated Vehicles (CCAV) will be tested in 13 European countries in real life environments. \nAfter 1\,5 years and in preparation of the demonstrations next year\, the SHOW partners have developed vehicle technologies\, physical and digital infrastructure\, business models\, impact assessment methods\, as well as added-value services based on AI and Big Data. But the project has also unveiled challenges that need to be addressed in order to ensure a meaningful deployment of CCAV in terms of technical feasibility and sustainability. \nWhat are these challenges and how can we address them in Europe? What is missing in Europe in terms of regulations\, infrastructure\, manufacturing industries\, or even citizens awareness to achieve a CCAM that we would define as meaningful? How do we want to position Europe in comparison with the strong competition from the USA or several countries from the Asia-Pacific region? \nIn the workshop\, speakers from European and national governmental bodies\, industry\, public authorities and academia will try to find answers to these questions based on concrete experiences from the SHOW project and other initiatives. \nProgramme: \n11.30am – 12.30pm: Keynote speeches \n\nMP Mr. Damien Pichereau\, Parliamentarian of French Assembly\, Commission on Sustainable Development and Land Use Planning (Commission du développement durable et de l’aménagement du territoire – DDAT)\nTom Alkim\, DG Research & Innovation\, European Commission\nEndre Angelvik\, Ruter\n\n12.30pm – 2pm: Lunch \n2pm – 4pm: Interactive session based on the insights from SHOW partners (UITP\, CERTH\, VTI\, AustriaTech and more to join) among others on needs for investments\, for manufacturing industries\, for testing\, for research\, and for harmonized regulations in Europe. \n\nAnna Anund\, VTI\nMaria Gkemou\, CERTH/HIT\nJussi Suomela\, Sensible 4\nTamara Vlk\, AustriaTech\nMihai Chirca\, Transdev\nSophie de Lambert\, NAVYA\nPeter Staelens\, EUROCITIES\n\n4pm – 4.30pm: Wrap-up and next steps \nThe workshop will be held as an in-person meeting in Brussels (address will be communicated separately) in the respect of the sanitary situations imposed by the Belgium government. In this special context\, the number of participants in person will be restricted to 50 and will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Each participant needs to check the travel requirements that apply to the respective country. Information on current measures for entering Belgium can be retrieved from this website. The workshop will also be live streamed online through a web platform. The link will be communicated after registration. \nThe event will take place on Sep 30\, from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm CET. \nYou can register for the workshop here. When registering\, please indicate whether you would like to attend the event in person or online. \n

SUMMARY:5th VDV Congress on Future Autonomous Driving within Public Transport
DESCRIPTION:Shared\, electrical and autonomous – these three mobility revolutions have turned out to be really hard work\, but that does not mean that we stop working. On the contrary\, it urges us to work even harder to be successful. The plans of the vehicle manufacturer might have been delayed a little\, but that was our chance to direct the framework conditions for the future mobility and the role of the municipalities and public transport into the right channels and to assure our position. Recent bulletins from the developers of sets for autonomous driving makes it clear: The time has come to include autonomous vehicles into the strategy and to consider them by the urban and rural development so that we do not get “stuck in a driverless traffic jam”. \nAt the 5th VDV Congress on Future Autonomous Driving within Public Transport the current adaptations of the legal framework as a basis for future measures to make politics\, companies and municipalities fit for the future will be presented. \nSHOW will be presented on 19 May by Dr. Henriette Cornet\, CCAM Senior Manager\, UITP. \nMore information and full programme here. \n

SUMMARY:EU PROJECT SHOW KICKS-OFF IN BRUSSELS
DESCRIPTION:Yesterday\, SHOW (SHared automation Operating models for Worldwide adoption) project was officially launched in Brussels. The 69 partners from 13 EU countries together with European Commission representatives\, kick-started the work to support the deployment of shared\, connected and electrified automation in urban transport across a four-year period. \nThis European project will promote and pilot automated transport towards seamless and safe sustainable mobility\, also by looking at different aspects of AVs and focusing on users’ acceptance\, legal\, operational and ethical limitations of AVs and viable business models. \nAt the same time\, SHOW is also strategically supporting multimodality accessibility by improving the public transport system (metropolitan rail services\, metro lines\, tramway network-included)\, the cycling and walking network and the ITS infrastructures and services. \nSHOW’s key innovation is its holistic and integrated approach\, engaging the entire mobility ecosystem across Europe. The project is a unique effort to make sustainable urban mobility through automation a living reality.
