AUSTRIA

Connecting peri-urban regions to intermodal mobility hubs in mixed traffic

Watch the video

OVERVIEW

The mega site Austria includes sites in Carinthia (Pörtschach & Klagenfurt), Graz and Salzburg. In Graz, an automated shuttle service is connecting a suburban train station / public transport hub and a shopping centre. The Salzburg demo includes an automated DRT (demand-responsive transport) for a peri-urban region, connecting it to the city centre via an intermodal mobility exchange, bridging the first/last mile. The Carinthia demo connects the respective train station of Pörtschach/Klagenfurt to the local neighbourhood. In Pörtschach, this includes the lakeside, several hotels and restaurants. In Klagenfurt, the train station is connected to the university, a business and science park and a living area.

In total, approximately a number of seven vehicles is available at different stages of the project for the Austrian mega site. This includes a mix of automated passenger vehicles, Navya shuttles and passenger vans. In addition to the 4G/5G network, all Austrian sites use V2X communication based on ITS G5, which is setup in close cooperation with KAPSCH TrafficCom and Yunex.
