Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
About Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
Founded in 1829 with the mission of creating value for the benefit of society, DTU is the Danish international elite technical university where education, scientific advice, and innovation rest on a solid foundation of world- class research. DTU develops new technologies and solutions for individuals, society, and the world at large. This applies to everything from technologies to improve health, new technological and digital solutions for industry, to intelligent energy systems. At DTU it is important to recognize that technology has a human interface. This means that successful engineering solutions should be developed in the context of the societal and cultural backgrounds of those who are using it. In particular the development of new technologies is not a goal in itself, but rather is a means to benefit Danish and global society and business, and to do so in a sustainable fashion. DTU offers a comprehensive range of study programmes in science and technology provided by active researchers. They provide graduates with strong core academic competences and learning outcomes, enabling them to address the challenges of the modern, globalized world.
DTU is ranked as one of the foremost technical universities in Europe, the Leiden industry-academia collaboration ranking places DTU as number 16 in the world and 9 in Europe. DTU is at the academic and multidisciplinary forefront within the technical and the natural sciences. DTU has approximately 1,355 PhD fellows, representing 93 different nationalities and with 60% coming from outside Denmark.
