Movia Public Transport

About Movia

As Denmark’s largest public traffic authority, Movias mission is to ensure public mobility throughout Copenhagen and the island of Zealand through coherent, simple and environmentally friendly public transport solutions.

Movia is responsible for transportation of more than 215 million passengers per year on our close to 450 bus lines, nine local train lines and five Flextrafik schemes (DRT-solutions). In collaboration with municipalities and regions, we plan public transport across bus, local railways and Flextrafik. Public transport supports the visions of municipalities and regions for growth, settlement, job placement and mobility. Movia assists municipalities and regions to ensure that public transport is an attractive and environmentally friendly welfare service for citizens.

As a public company Movia is regulated by Danish law on public transport authorities. Movia is owned by the 45 municipalities and two regions in Zealand. Total annual turnover for Movia amounts to just over DKK 4 billion (540 million EUR), of which almost half is covered by ticket revenue from passengers in bus, train and our DRT-solutions, Flextrafik. This means that municipalities and regions invest more than DKK 2 billion every year in public transport on bus and local railways and on special groups, for example children and adults with special needs, and patient door to door service.
