On 30 September 2021, SHOW was back at where it all started! After a kickoff in January 2020 that gathered more than 100 participants, SHOW met once more at the Pullman Hotel in Brussels for the 2nd pan-European Workshop.

Titled ‘Which path for a meaningful, sustainable and feasible CCAM in Europe‘, the topic was about missing blocks in Europe in terms of regulations, infrastructure, manufacturing industries, or even citizens awareness to achieve a meaning path towards CCAM. The event followed directly after the Final Event of the UITP-coordinator SPACE project, also focused on automated mobility.

Three special guests gave insightful keynotes:
– MP Damien Pichereau, Parliamentarian of French Assembly, in the context of his report on Automated Vehicles
– Tom Alkim, DG Research & Innovation, European Commission
– Endre Angelvik, Executive Vice President of Radical Innovation at Ruter As.

In the afternoon, an interactive hybrid session took place with SHOW members Anna Anund from Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), Jussi Suomela from Sensible 4, Alexander Fürdös from AustriaTech, Maria Gkemou from HIT CERTH, Sophie de Lambert de Boisjean from Navya Group, Mihai Chirca from Transdev, and Peter Staelens from Eurocities in which each of them made a statement answering the question “What is needed to position Europe on its path towards meaningful CCAM?”

Meaningful mobility vision, permission to test, coordinated testing, meaningful research, multi-level partnerships, meaningful funds, citizens engagement, and meaningful regulation were the needs mentioned and discussed with the physical and virtual audience.

We will do our best to ensure that SHOW brings its contribution to this path!
