Have you ever wondered who are the people working in the field of automated mobility? And what motivates them to work on self-driving vehicles?
To get answers to your questions, SHOW launched the new podcast series ‘Automated Mobility: The people behind the wheel.’ In the podcast, you will get to know the experts working in the field of automated mobility through a series of interviews. Hosted by Henriette Cornet, UITP, Coordinator of the SHOW project, the podcast wants to build the bridge between research and practice, between experts and passengers.
#7: Joachim Hillebrand – Simulating a city with AVs
In this episode, Joachim Hillebrand, from VIF – the Virtual Vehicle Research Centre, explains his activities in SHOW. On the one hand, Joachim is coordinating the demo site of Graz, Austria, in which passenger cars will transport passengers from the metro station to commercial areas. His other work is to lead the simulation activities in SHOW.
In this episode you will learn about the different types of simulators that are used in the project, what you can learn from them and why it is complex to make them run together. “Digital twins enable to simulate how a city and its traffic would look like with thousands of AVs; we can’t do that in the real world now.”
A huge thanks to our guests for their time and fantastic insights!
